Ara Haytayan (Born 1945)
Graduated from State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia in 1992. Member of Artists’ Union of Armenia since 1994.
Ara Haytayan’s three main genre-series are of his own invention: Still-life Margins, Allegorical Landscapes and Urban Signs. His art is a constant dialogue between his aesthetic problems and the surrounding world. In his own words, Haytayan’s works are born “of pain and problem… the existing problem stimulates the artist to give shapes to it, organize it into a concept. This is the artist’s reaction to life’s challenges”. Haytayan constantly experiments with color and form with attentiveness to surrounding reality. His deep knowledge of theoretical problems allows him to create artworks, which defy limitations and expand the borders of conventional genres.
